Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder, gave a definite religious form to this community. He laid the Foundation for all the modern and progressive fields of activities to which the congregation is committed at present. In the educational field the CMI congregation manages several colleges and schools, training and technical institutes all over India. It is also involved in many other social and humanitarian activities.

HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Carmel School , Shoranur was established in the year 1983. Due to the earnest request and demand of the people, Rev. Fr.Callistus Maliakkal CMI took the initiative to start an English Medium School, thus to give better education to the children of the locality. This unaided school is affiliated to CBSC upto the senior secondary level and is directed by the Little Flower Education Society, Coimbatore, which is duly a registered one

The students of today are exposed to radical changes in outlook and life style. They enjoy the convenience of post-modernism, and are vested with power and knowledge. But they are not yet capable of ordering or prioritizing what they have learnt and also they lack religious and moral points of references. Hence our schools and other educational institutions vigorously pursue the goal of the all around development of the students and of the society at large. They are committed to offer innumerable young people the opportunity of growing up in faith, accepting and living to the principles of truth charity and hope. So our educational institutions are not merely the places for giving instructions to help the students pass their exams, but a center illumined by the Gospel message, fully attentive to the needs and aspirations of young people

THE CMI EDUCATION POLICY STATEMENT

We, the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, after the example of our founder, Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, consider education as an integral formation of the human person for the fulfillment of his/her individual and social responsibilities. Our educational endeavors aim at forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy and socially acceptable, who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth, brotherhood and peace and open to further growth and change. The secret of the success of our educational institutions is a community of committed teachers, who are professionally competent, morally sound, right, just and humane in their dealings. We aspire towards creating a humane and just society where dignity of the human as a person is respected, where our cultural heritage of ahimsa, religious harmony and national integration are upheld and where the poor and the marginalized are specially taken care of. Our intuitions are open to all students irrespective of cast and creed. As they are privileged to be in our institutions they will also have the right to get acquainted with the person of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. These institutions which are established by and for a minority community, will give preference to christians in admissions and appointments and will have a special concern for the faith formation of the Christian youth. Our institutions are open to society at large by making their resources available for the ongoing education and non-formal teaching.
